Practice LocationsBiographical InformationDr. John McGinn is a general otolaryngologist, with particular interest and expertise in rhinology and laryngology. Dr. McGinn pursued his medical school education at the Penn State University College of Medicine, and subsequently completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at Eastern Virginia Graduate Medical School in Norfolk, VA. He initially entered private practice in the Pittsburgh area for 2 years, but transitioned back to the academic setting and has been on staff at Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center since 2003. Currently an Associate Professor in Surgery, he also serves as the Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery Residency Program Director for Penn State which allows for the combination of his patient care and educational interests. He serves on several regional and national surgical committees.
Dr. McGinn’s clinical practice focuses on rhinology and laryngology, but he cares for the breadth of general otolaryngologic illnesses. With the support of a full-time speech pathologist within the Division, he cares for most voice problems, including professional voice. He strives to integrate technology into his practice, including image guidance for complex sinus surgery and sinonasal tumor resection, balloon dilation techniques in chronic rhinosinusitis, digital videostroboscopy, lasers, and palatal implants for snoring.
