Allergic diseases affect as much as 30% of the population and include conditions such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, food allergies, and drug allergy.  The mechanisms that cause allergic inflammation are poorly understood, and there are limited treatment options.  Our lab is focused on the understanding of the mechanisms that underlie allergic diseases, better methods of diagnosis of these conditions, and the development of novel drugs to effectively treat allergies.  We currently have three specific areas of interests:

1. the role of reactive oxygen species in the inflammatory response.
2. microRNAs as biomarkers in the diagnosis and pathogenesis of allergic disease.
3. diagnosis of drug allergy by in vitro methods.
