James Nicholson, M.D., M.S.C.E., grew up both on the campus of Westtown School in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and in the woods of central Maine. He attended Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, and completed medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Nicholson completed his residency with the Duke-Watts Family Medicine Residency Program, where he served as chief resident. Following residency, Dr. Nicholson became interested in primary care obstetrics and initiated several studies in risk-based labor inductions. He has engaged in research, clinical trials, and received numerous grants to explore this particular area of primary care medicine. Dr. Nicholson continues to research the use of risk-based labor induction to improve birth outcomes and teaches maternity care to Family Medicine residents.
