Biographical Information

Thomas Weida, M.D., F.A.A.F.P., was raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.  He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Lehigh University (Bethlehem, PA) and Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital (Philadelphia).  He completed his family medicine residency at Lancaster General Hospital.  Following residency, Dr. Weida was in private practice in Lancaster County for thirteen years before joining the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Dr. Weida serves as the Medical Director for Information Technology and Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine.  He also serves as head of the Penn State College of Medicine Waldhausen Society, organized to teach clinical skills and advise medical students.  Dr. Weida is a  former Speaker and Vice Speaker of the American Academy of Family Physicians' Congress of Delegates and served on the AAFP Board of Directors for seven years.

Dr. Weida is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatrics, and is an AAFP Fellow.  He currently serves as AAFP representative to the AMA Relative Value Update Committee, is on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and is an alternate delegate to the AMA House of Delegates.  Recently, he was appointed by Governor Corbett to the Drug, Device, and Cosmetics Board.

Dr. Weida enjoys cooking, traveling, and photography.
