Peter G. Tombros

Biographical Information:

Mr. Tombros is currently Professor and Distinguished Executive in Residence in the Eberly College of Science BS/MBA Program at the Pennsylvania State University.

Mr. Tombros's professional career includes eight years as President and CEO of Enzon Pharma, where under his leadership, Enzon was able to grow from a market capitalization of $44 million to over $3 billion. Previously, Mr. Tombros spent 25 years at Pfizer Inc. in a variety of positions including Vice President of Marketing, Senior Vice President and General Manager, and Executive Vice President, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. 

Mr. Tombros also has private company experience serving as CEO and Director of VivoQuest from 2002 to 2005. 

He serves on the public company Boards of NPS Pharmaceuticals where he is non-executive Chairman of the Board and Cambrex, Inc. where he is Chairman of the Audit Committee. In addition, Mr. Tombros has served as a director of other public companies, including Alpharma, Pharmanet Development Group Inc and Dendrite International.

Financial Times, one of the world's leading business news organizations, selected Mr. Tombros to receive its 2015 Outstanding Director Award. 

Mr. Tombros and his wife, Ann, created the Tombros Foundation in 2001 from which to pursue their philanthropic interests.  They have both been very active in supporting a number of educational and cultural institutions.   For example, Mr. Tombros was Chairman of the seven and one-half year Pennsylvania State University $2.2 Billion Capital Campaign. At Penn State Hershey, their philanthropic activities extend to the Four Diamonds Fund, Children's Miracle Network and the Medical Student Summer Intern Program.
