Associate Dean for Research
Sheila L. Vrana, PhD, is Interim Associate Vice President for Research, Interim Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, Associate Dean for Research, and Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the Penn State College of Medicine
Dr. Vrana received degrees in Biology (BS) and Psychology (BA) from Emory University, and her PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the West Virginia University Health Sciences Center. She completed NIH-funded postdoctoral training in molecular biology and behavioral pharmacology at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine and rose through the academic ranks to become Assistant Dean of Research.
In 2004, Dr. Vrana joined the Penn State College of Medicine as Associate Dean for Research. Dr. Vrana is a national leader in university research administration organizations and directs numerous faculty development programs at the College of Medicine.
She is also a United Way of the Capital Region Fund Distribution Volunteer and serves on the Schreyer Parents Council, Schreyer Honors College, Penn State University.
