Associate Vice President for Financial and Business, Controller

Wayne W. Zolko is Associate Vice President for Finance and Business, Controller for the College of Medicine; Treasurer for the Penn State Hershey Health System; Vice President for the Nittany Insurance Company; Secretary/Treasurer of the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, and is also the Campus Chief Financial Officer.

Mr. Zolko graduated from Villanova University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.  He then spent nine years in public accounting with the firm of Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte) where he became a Certified Public Accountant.  As a manager with Deloitte Haskins & Sells, Mr. Zolko developed specialized expertise in both the higher education and health care fields.

Following his career in public accounting, Mr. Zolko began working for The Pennsylvania State University in 1984.  His responsibilities with Penn State have included the preparation of the University's audited financial statements and negotiation of the federal overhead rates with the Office of Naval Research.

In 1991, Mr. Zolko assumed responsibility for the financial operations of The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, which now includes four hospitals, an 800-physician group practice and the Penn State College of Medicine. In July 1997, his responsibilities were expanded to include oversight of the administrative and business functions for the College of Medicine. He is also responsible for the Medical Center campus-wide functions of facilities, capital planning, energy management, real estate, safety, corporate compliance, and faculty compensation.
