David P. Swift

David Swift serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer for Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and the Associate Vice President for Human Resources for Health Affairs at Penn State. In this role, Swift leads the workforce planning, operations, employee relations, engagement and communications, compensation, benefits, recruitment, retirement, wellness, customer service call center, information systems, leadership development, and training for the Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine.

Prior to joining the Medical Center and College of Medicine, Swift served as the Chief Human Resources Officer and Senior Vice President for the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) in Baltimore. UMMS, one of the nation’s oldest teaching hospitals, is a 12 hospital system, including nine community hospitals, a children’s hospital, and a rehab hospital.

Swift also served as the Vice President of Human Resources for Forum Health in Youngstown, Ohio. During his 21 year career in the United States Air Force, he served in leadership and training positions. He holds a B.S. in Business and Management from the University of Maryland University College and an M.S. in Healthcare Administration and Management from Capella University.

David and his wife, Andrea, reside in the Hershey area with their extended family close by.
