Applications should be submitted by March 1 for entry in the following fall semester. Only online applications will be accepted. Please submit an application electronically to the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Graduate Program. Use of this application requires a Forms-capable browser. We strongly recommend that you review the application first and collect all of the requested information before filling out and submitting your application.
Scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), or from a comparable substitute examination accepted by a graduate program and authorized by the Dean of the Graduate School, are required for admission. Applicants are expected to have taken courses in biology, general, organic, and physical chemistry, mathematics, and general physics. Biochemistry is desirable but not essential. Candidates should have a 3.0 (B) grade point average or better.
The following supporting documents are required and should be uploaded to the electronic application:
- Brief personal statement summarizing the background and professional goals of the applicant. (It is not necessary to mail a printed version of the personal statement. It is part of the online application form)
- GRE general test scores (or scores from a comparable examination accepted by the graduate program, e.g., MCAT exam). Subject GRE scores are not required. School Code: 2660; Dept. Code: 0202
- TOEFL score (if applicable). Foreign applicants whose native language is not English must provide evidence of proficiency in English with a minimum score of 550 on the TOEFL examination. The best-qualified applicants will be accepted on a space-available basis. School Code: 2660
- Three letters of recommendation (as per instructions online)
- Two official transcripts from all institutions of higher learning attended, both undergraduate and graduate.
