22nd Annual Pennsylvania Immunization Conference

Each year the Pennsylvania Immunization Coalition (PAIC) in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Penn State College of Medicine sponsors a conference to bring immunization partners together to share information, discuss current issues, and recommend strategies to improve immunization rates in Pennsylvania. 

Conference Objectives

  • Use current ACIP immunization recommendations in local clinics and practices to maximize protection against vaccine preventable diseases throughout Pennsylvania
  • Describe the physiologic and psychosocial life altering changes among persons who have been diagnosed with polio
  • Discuss current Pennsylvania immunization laws, including the role of pharmacists to administer immunizations and the status of religious and philosophical exemptions. 
  • Discuss Pennsylvania’s data related to varicella incidence, morbidity, mortality, and the effectiveness of prevention strategies.
  • Discuss the responsibility to protect patients against vaccine preventable diseases by ensuring health care providers have up-to-date immunizations in practice.  
  • Use evidence-based strategies to prepare practice settings for measles outbreaks
  • Describe the physiologic and psychosocial life altering changes among persons who have been diagnosed with HPV related cervical cancer

CME Accreditation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Penn State College of Medicine and Pennsylvania Department of Health and Pennsylvania Immunization Coalition (PAIC). Penn State College of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Penn State College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.75AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Penn State University has approved this program for 0.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

6.0 continuing education hours for professional school personnel (Act 48) and Registered Nurses (Act 58) have been preliminarily approved for this conference.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is an approved provider of continuing education for registered nurses in Pennsylvania under Act 58 of 2006 and 49 PA Code, Chapter 21 § 21.134 (Continuing Education Sources) of the rules and regulations of the State Board of Nursing.  

Pursuant to Act 48 of 1999, Section 1205.2 (Program of Continuing Professional Education) (d), the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Division of School Health is an Approved Provider of the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Hershey Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.  Successful completion of this session will provide participants with 5.75 live contact hour credits. Please note that knowledge-based program has been assigned the UAN#: 0322-0000-16-010-L04-P.  Successful completion of this program requires the participant to attend the entire program, complete attendance verification form including date of birth information and personal NABP number, and complete the entire program evaluation form online.


Pre-Conference Events

PAIC General Membership Meeting
The Pennsylvania Immunization Coalition will hold a General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the PennStater Hotel and Conference Center. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet immunization experts, sharpen our skills as “immunization educators” and network with coalition members from across Pennsylvania. There is no cost to attend this General Membership Meeting but pre-registration is requested. Light refreshments will be provided. 

PAIC Immunization Dinner

Please join us for an evening of education and fun!  Come and network with immunization champions from across Pennsylvania! 

This year’s dinner theme is “WE ARE Getting Louder! – Can you hear us now?”  

Our guest speaker will be Dr. Paul A. Offit, Director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the Maurice R. Hilleman Professor of Vaccinology and a Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.  

A limited number of tickets will be available at $50 per person, and includes light hors d'oeuvres, a buffet dinner and a copy of Dr. Offit’s latest book. The buffet will include vegetarian and gluten-free entrees and sides.

Tickets will be available until June 9, 2016. Full refunds will be given for cancellation if you notify PAIC by 4 p.m. on June 9, 2016. Tickets will not be sold at the door the evening of the event.

Proceeds from the PAIC Immunization Dinner benefit PAIC and local immunization coalitions across Pennsylvania.

View Immunization Resources - Approximately one week prior to the conference, all registrants will receive an email notifying them that the handout material is available through their COMPASS account. Please print your own copies for use during the conference. Hard copies will NOT be available onsite.


There is a $100 cost for attending PIC. Cancellations before 4 p.m. on June 9, 2016, will receive a full refund. No refunds after that time and date.
