The staff of human genetics, growth, and development evaluates, diagnoses, and provides genetic counseling for individuals and families at risk for heritable diseases or birth defects. Developmental problems of children, including mental retardation, cerebral palsy, attention deficit disorder, and autism are evaluated and treated. Laboratory services offered include chromosomal analyses of blood, amniotic fluid cells, and solid tissues. Prenatal diagnostic testing through amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling is available.
