At age 12, when most children are healthy and full of energy, Jamie Reynolds was fatigued and experiencing chest pain. She was taken to a local hospital and immediately referred to the Children’s Heart Group at Penn State Children’s Hospital. There, pediatric cardiologists discovered a virus had ravaged her heart muscle. She needed a heart transplant.
Fortunately for Jamie, Penn State Children’s Hospital has the region’s most advanced pediatric intensive care unit and is staffed with a full complement of pediatric cardiac specialists who found her a new heart and saved her life.
Today, Jamie is a nurse in our pediatric intensive care unit giving back the world class care she received as a child. She’s also married and planning a family of her own.
