Welcome to Penn State Hershey Children's Heart Group
Penn State Hershey Children's Heart Group is a team of experienced pediatric cardiovascular physicians, working together to provide the most advanced heart care for patients with congenital acquired heart disease from the smallest newborn, children, teenagers and adults with congenital heart defects. With pediatric cardiologists in every subspecialty, and a world renowned pediatric cardiovascular surgeon, we have experience treating even the rarest of heart defects and conditions.
Our comprehensive program is a regional center of excellence in the care of children with heart disease. A focus on superior care distinguishes the Children's Heart Group from other teaching and academic centers. At our institution, the care of your child is entrusted to our fully trained, board-certified physicians. Children benefit directly from the expertise of pediatric cardiologists, pediatric cardiac surgeons, pediatric intensivists, pediatric anesthesiologists and a faculty of highly trained pediatric specialists and sub-specialists.
At age 12, when most children are healthy and full of energy, Jamie Reynolds was fatigued and experiencing chest pain. She was taken to a local hospital and immediately referred to the Children’s Heart Group at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. There, pediatric cardiologists discovered a virus had ravaged her heart muscle. She needed a heart transplant.
Fortunately for Jamie, Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital has the region’s most advanced pediatric intensive care unit and is staffed with a full complement of pediatric cardiac specialists who found her a new heart and saved her life.
Today, Jamie is a nurse in our pediatric intensive care unit giving back the world class care she received as a child. She’s also married and planning a family of her own.
As one of the premier academic medical centers in the northeast, Penn State Hershey Medical Center is committed to a bold new vision of health care, and to the people, partnerships and progressive technologies that bring this vision to life.
But don't take our word for it - our leadership in providing the finest state-of-the-art care for our patients has been widely recognized in numerous national and regional rankings for quality, patients safety, physician and nursing excellence.
