Funds raised for Children’s Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital during 2008-2009 totaled a record-breaking $3,202,513. The total was announced during the twenty-fifth annual Children’s Miracle Network Telethon on May 30 & 31. The broadcast, aired on WGAL-TV8, is the culmination of the fundraising year for Children’s Miracle Network. WGAL-TV8 anchors and reporters hosted the 13-hour telethon from the WITF Public Media Center in Harrisburg.
Children’s Miracle Network also reached its goal to raise 750 pledges of $25 a month for 12 months during the Telethon. These funds will be used to purchase life saving equipment for the Children’s Heart Group at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
Top corporate donors this year included GIANT Food Stores, Citadel Broadcasting Company, Walmart and Sam’s Clubs, Rite Aid, Penn State Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine employees, the employees of The Hershey Company and Auntie Anne’s Inc.
“Over the last 25 years, Children’s Miracle Network has raised $34 million for sick and injured children in central Pennsylvania. We could not have reached this incredible milestone without the continued support and generosity of this community. Despite a strained economy, we were able to reach our goal $1 at a time. Thank you!” said Jennifer Groff, Director of Children’s Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
All funds raised from this year’s efforts will be used to support pediatric programs, research, equipment and services at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. Children’s Miracle Network is an international, nonprofit organization whose mission is to generate funds and awareness to benefit children in 170 affiliated hospitals in the United States and Canada. At Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital, Children’s Miracle Network has raised more than $34 million since it began locally in 1984.

Admission is free! Join family and friends for a day filled with food, games, entertainment, and more! This event is held in conjunction with the 25th annual "Celebration" Broadcast on WGAL-TV 8 on Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6.
