Hair Transplantation

Hair transplantation

The most common cause of hair loss in men and women is androgenetic alopecia, commonly referred to as male or female pattern baldness (although females generally do not go bald). In addition to medical therapies, specialists from Penn State Hershey Dermatology offer surgical correction of androgenetic alopecia through state-of-the-art hair transplantation.  The technique of follicular unit transplantation, along with micro-grafts and mini-grafts, produces natural appearing results. In other words, no one should know that a hair transplantation was performed. The procedure is performed in our Cherry Drive cosmetic suite that offers privacy and comfort. Local anesthesia for the entire procedure translates into convenience and cost-effectiveness. Bandages are removed 24 hours after the procedure and return to work is possible in 2 to 3 days. The results and number of transplant procedures depends on multiple factors such as donor site density and extent of baldness.
