Volunteers needed for a research study related to pancreatitis (IRB# 31628)

Description:
Researchers at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center are looking for participants for a research study to assess whether an injection of a local anesthetic (lidocaine) is beneficial in preventing pancreatitis after having endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).
Eligibility:
You may be eligible if you:
- are over 18 years old
- have been referred to Endoscopy Clinic for an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
- have no known sensitivity to lidocaine or contrast agent
- have no history of cardiac arrhythmia or congestive heart failure
- have no active acute pancreatitis before procedure
Additional Study Details:
Patients will be contacted 1 day and 1 week post-ERCP to assess for symptoms of pancreatitis
