Advocacy Committee
Penn State Hershey Diabetes Institute values the ideas, expertise and input of members of the community who are interested in supporting Institute's goals and vision. Community advocacy groups have been formed to give advice on reinventing patient-based diabetes care. Members of these groups have already given valuable input on the development of the Diabetes Playbook and the creation of a newsletter for patients and those interested in participating in research.
- People Centre'd On Diabetes (Centre Region)
People Centre’d on Diabetes (PCOD) is a coalition, dedicated to increasing awareness of diabetes in the Centre County Region. Members of the group include patients, health care providers, and other interested individuals. PCOD activities include:
- Publishing regular articles about diabetes in the Centre Daily Times
- World Diabetes Day activities promoting diabetes awareness (November 14th)
- Hosting a speakers bureau, available to give informative presentations about diabetes to community groups
