Non-proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy (IRB# 30791)

Description:
A study to determine the effects of doxycycline on the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye called the retina, and on the progression of diabetic retinopathy in patients with mild to moderate non-proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy.
Eligibility:
You may be eligible to participate if you:
- are 18 years old or older
- have type 1 or type 2 diabetes
- have a hemoglobin A1c level less than or equal to 11 percent
- have 20/40 or better vision in the study eye
- have mild to moderate diabetic retinopathy
