In addition to the departmental and family practice interest group meetings on the campus of Penn State's College of Medicine, Penn State medical students are encouraged to attend regional and national meetings to help them better understand family medicine. There are several meetings that occur each year.
- Clinical Camp
Clinical camp is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians, is held in Philadelphia on a Saturday in April. It provides an opportunity to talk with family physicians from around Pennsylvania, to learn about application to residency programs, to take advantage of hands on workshops, and to pursue special interests within family medicine. http://www.pafp.com/
- National Conference for Family Medicine Residents and Students

National speakers, numerous seminars and workshops are available. Hundreds of residency programs are present to provide advice and application and the conference generally attracts approximately 600 to 700 students from across the United States.
- Northeast Regional Society of Family Medicine
This meeting is held over a weekend in October, rotating between cities in the Northeast US and again includes national plenary speakers, numerous workshops and seminars and the ability to talk with many residency program representatives.
