Pacemaker, ICD & Arrhythmia Clinic

Penn State Hershey Heart and Vascular Institutes Pacemaker, ICD & Arrhythmia Clinic has three locations.   The main clinic is located on the first floor of the main hospital's North hallway.  To better serve you, we are now offering  services at the Shamokin Area Community Hospital and the Nyes Road II Clinic.  The clinics are staffed with three full-time certified/registered cardiovascular technologists who have a specialized focus in electrophysiology.

The clinic cares for nearly 1,100 pacemaker and defibrillator patients and performs over 6,500 studies and procedures yearly.  These procedures include pacemaker and defibrillator interrogations with and without programming, trans-telephonic pacemaker analysis, and event monitor application with ECG rhythm retrieval and analysis.

The main clinic hours are Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  At the Shamokin Area Community Hospital and Nyes Road II Clinic specific days and times are available.  Outside of these hours, we are committed to providing 24 hour/seven day a week coverage for patients enrolled in the Arrhythmia Clinic.  This coverage allows patients to phone in arrhythmia ECG tracings to the technologists who are on-call during evenings and weekends.

We care for a patient population that ranges from basic arrhythmia management to end stage congestive heart failure.  Our specialized staff is proficient in interpreting sophisticated cardiac rhythm diagnostic information.

Our specialized staff takes pride in the quality of care that is given to each patient.  Detailed information about the implanted cardiac device function, restrictions and lifestyles modifications are given along with instructions, standard follow-up procedures, and direct contact numbers to use if they have any further questions. Our cardiologist are immediately available should a question or problem arise.  Physicians typically refer patients to the clinic (see referral form below), but self-referral is possible when an appointment is being made to see one of our Penn State Hershey Cardiologists.
