The fire extinguishers in your apartment are required by OSHA and NFPA codes to be inspected monthly. In an effort reduce the number of times Housing Department Staff must enter your apartment to comply with required inspections and disrupt your daily routine, we are requesting that you complete the visual inspection of your fire extinguisher. Please review the following information and complete this month’s fire extinguisher inspection.

The inspection shall confirm the following requirements:

• The fire extinguisher is in the designated location and properly placed on its bracket.
• There are NO obstructions blocking access to the extinguisher.
• The extinguisher does not have any visible mechanical defects.
• Seals and tamper indicators are not missing or broken.
• The extinguishing agent is ready for use.
• The indicating needle is within the green arch of the pressure gauge.

Please initial and date the inspection tag affixed to your extinguisher when the inspection is complete.
