Overview

The practice of Infectious Diseases and the related fields of Microbiology and Epidemiology are rich with potential for discovering new knowledge.  All of our faculty members are committed to mentoring students, residents, and fellows to facilitate the conceptualization, completion, and publication of research projects as part of their training programs.

Research is a central part of the mission of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology.  Our faculty lead clinical research studies to determine the usefulness of novel treatments or infection prevention protocols and laboratory research to advance the basic knowledge of microbial pathogens.  We collaborate with researchers from many fields within Penn State and at other U.S. and international institutions.
