Requirements listed here are in addition to general Graduate School requirements stated in the GENERAL INFORMATION section of the Graduate Bulletin.
- Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
- The junior/senior years GPA must be at least 3.0.
- Applicants are expected to have taken courses in biology, general and organic chemistry, mathematics, and general physics.
- Biochemistry is desirable but not essential.
- Scores from Graduate Record Examination (GRE) are also required.
- At the discretion of the graduate program, a student may be admitted provisionally for graduate study without these scores.
- Admission is based on evaluation by the Graduate Program Committee of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology of the undergraduate transcript, GRE scores, personal essay, and three letters of recommendation.
- Research experience of the applicant is also a significant component of the evaluation process.
- Qualified applicants will usually be invited to visit the department for an interview prior to acceptance decisions.
