Application Process & Deadline

  • For all awards except the Finkelstein and Clouser Awards, submit a completed MSR Student Award Application Coversheet, and a copy of your MSR proposal to Ed Ruth in the Office of Medical Education. Indicate the primary award for which you are applying.  In the event you want to be considered for more than one scholarship, please list them in order of preferences.
  • The deadline for all applications (except the Finkelstein) is 5 PM on March 27, 2009.

Review Process

  • All applications will be reviewed by a subcommittee composed of members of the GCRC and the MSR Committee.  Projects are scored based on scientific merit, adequacy of resources, possible impact on the student's career, and overall creativity.

Selection Process

  • All applications will be ranked with priority scores.  For example, a high-ranking application that was submitted for the International award, but did not receive it will also be considered, by rank, for either the Mellinger or Naugle awards.

Notification

  • All awardees will be notified no later than May 2, 2009.
  • Questions can be directed to Ed Ruth, Acting MSR Administrator, Ext 3877, eruth@hmc.psu.edu
