Penn State Doctor Receives Teacher Recognition Certificate

Milind J. Kothari, D.O., professor and vice-chair of neurology, has been awarded a 2008 Teacher Recognition Certificate from the American Academy of Neurology and the A.B. Baker Section of Neurologic Education. This award recognizes faculty for excellence in teaching neurology to medical students.

As the clerkship director for neurology, Kothari spends a significant amount of time educating the medical students rotating through the department every month. He has created a unique curriculum for the neurology medical student clerkship and established the Student Interest Group in Neurology for Penn State Hershey medical students. He serves as an examiner for the national Neurology Boards and is nationally recognized as a leader in neurology education. David Good, M.D., chair of neurology, nominated Kothari for the award. “He is an exceptional teacher at all levels. Most importantly, he is always available to counsel students and residents: his door is always open,” Good says.
