The nurses in the Heart & Vascular Outpatient Unit provide care for patients undergoing invasive cardiac procedures including the following:
- Coronary angioplasty/stenting
- Pacemaker/ICD Implantation/radiofrequency ablation
- Endomyocardial biopsy
- Diagnosis of congenital anomalies
- Repair of cardiac defects (ASD occlusion)
- A variety of diagnostic coronary and electrophysiologic procedures
- Endovenous laser therapy
Fifteen pre/post Cardiac Catheterization procedure beds.
Our nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4.
A scheduling committee facilitates the self scheduling model. The unit’s of operation are Monday 0600 - Saturday 0700, thus they staff 24/5 coverage.
Orientation is four to six weeks with a consistent preceptor.
One to two years experience , with ICU/IMCU and/or cardiology experience preferred. Pediatric experience is a plus. ACLS certification will be expected within three months of employment and PALS certification within six months of employment.
