Mark Taylor, M.S.W., Ed.D. (www.taylorprograms.com) is a nationally recognized expert, speaker, and consultant on understanding and teaching today's students. His programs and workshops help colleges and universities more effectively recruit, retain, develop, and teach students from Generation NeXt. This generation of students has grown up in an on-demand age of instant gratification, super-consumerism, and information technology. They tend to seek and expect constant stimulation, immediate response, excellent service, and painless success. Their issues with academic preparation, responsibility, self-esteem, consumer expectations, use of technology, and styles of interacting can affect and interfere with their learning, persistence and academic success. Taylor will describe this cohort and present his views on alternative methods of teaching this new generation of students to improve their ability to function as they enter the biomedical workforce.
