The Mentoring Academy
To encourage senior faculty to serve as mentors and to recognize those who have mentored emerging faculty, the Penn State College of Medicine has established the Mentoring Academy. Membership in the Mentoring Academy is awarded to faculty who have guided a junior faculty member in the Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP).
Almost 90 senior faculty have served as mentors in the JFDP since it was started in 2003. Several faculty have served in more than one year. These senior faculty represent most of the basic science and clinical departments in the College of Medicine, as well as departments on other Penn State campuses. The Mentoring Academy and JFDP provide support for mentors through workshops and other activities.
