The Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center College of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedics, Surgery Fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery is a 12-month fellowship in surgery of the adult foot and ankle. Two days each week are spent with the director of the fellowship in an office practice heavily weighted toward foot and ankle problems and two days are spent in surgery. There is adequate exposure to acute and reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle, as well as a broad spectrum exposure to clinical non-surgical problems. The fellow will have one day a week dedicated to research and/or independent patient care. Time and facilities are available for clinical and basic science research projects within the department of Orthopaedics and support staff is available to assist in this research. A biomechanics laboratory and animal research facility are available on site. Access to a gait lab is available at Penn States main campus. The fellow is required to work on at least two research projects during the fellowship year, each of which is suitable for publication. *
