Training in Developmental Pediatric Program requires the integration of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are the essential qualities of a competent pediatrician. However, it is as much an approach to working with children and their families as it is a knowledge base. Behavioral and developmental pediatrics supports the clinical management of the whole child in the context of their family, community, and culture.
Developmental pediatrics is involved in education of faculty, nurses, community providers, therapists and agencies across the region and nationally. We are also responsible for the education of residents and medical students in pediatrics and medicine pediatric residency programs at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. We are proud to offer an array of educational opportunities for adult learners via a developmental and behavioral education series through grand rounds, lunchtime lectures, and clinical teaching. Our one way mirror with video capability allows us to capture behaviors for teaching with residents and students whenever they are available.
