Overview

Since 1993, the pediatric trauma program has been accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.  Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital is the only designated pediatric trauma center in South Central Pennsylvania.

This accreditation recognizes the expertise in managing any acute injury to a child ranging from a fracture to life-threatening injuries. Pediatric specialists are available 24 hours a day to render immediate treatment to injured children. We care for thousands of children annually in the emergency department with more than 700 of these children requiring hospital admission.

The Pediatric Trauma program at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital includes a multidisciplinary team using age-specific equipment that is ready to care for injured children from prehospital care through rehabilitation.
