At Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, we strive to provide Patient and Family Centered Care, which means we want to partner with our patients and families to provide the best possible care. We recognize that a hospital stay or a visit to the doctor’s office is often a stressful or uncomfortable time. With our Patient and Family Centered approach to the care we provide, we hope to make your experience as stress free as possible.
Dignity and respect - We are committed to listening to and honoring patient and family perspectives and choices. We try to incorporate patient and family knowledge, values, beliefs and cultural backgrounds into the planning and delivery of care.
Information sharing - Our medical teams openly share information with patients and families. We also encourage patients and families to ask questions and share observations with our medical teams.
Participation - We value patients’ and families’ input and we encourage them to participate in the care and decision-making process at the level they choose.
Collaboration - Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center believes in partnering with patients and families on policy and program development, patient care, facility design, and professional education. We have Patient and Family Advisors who sit on hospital committees, help to educate hospital staff, and are encouraged to provide feedback on how we can improve our programs and services.
