Welcome to Penn State Public Health Sciences

As Chair of the Department of Public Health Sciences at Penn State Hershey, I welcome you to the PHS web site. PHS comprises three academic divisions:

• Biostatistics and Bioinformatics
• Epidemiology
• Health Services Research

PHS houses four centers:

• Center for Applied Studies in Health Economics
• Center for Nutrition & Activity Promotion
• Center for Statistical Genetics
• Penn State Center for Women's Health Research

PHS is also home to two graduate programs:

• Master of Public Health (MPH)
• Master of Science (MS) in Public Health Sciences
• PhD in Biostatistics

The MPH degree focuses on the practice of public health. The MS program focuses on the methodology of clinical research.  The PhD program focuses on the methodology and application of biostatistics to biomedical and clinical research.

In addition PHS includes: Research Support units including Data Management, Research Computing, Project Management and Administration.
