Penn State Hershey Plastic Surgery and the Plastic Surgery Interest Group invites you, your family, and friends to participate in the Miles for Smiles 5K Run/Walk race organized by Penn State Operation Smile. Operation Smile is a medical charity dedicated to helping children who are afflicted with cleft palate and other facial deformities. The organization provides surgeries at significantly reduced cost to those in need and trains healthcare providers from around the world to sustain local programs. Medical volunteers donate their time and expertise, and are deployed for short intervals in one of the 51 participating countries around the world. Corporate sponsors also donate equipment and revenue, along with private donations. Thanks to those who dedicate time, expertise or resources, over 120,000 children have been helped.
