Pediatric plastic surgeons at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital treat a wide variety of deformities. With improvements in antenatal diagnosis and screening, some deformities are diagnosed before the child is born. Our involvement can be from this early stage, counseling and preparing parents before the birth. At times this involvement continues, and we see children at regular intervals as they grow to young adulthood (when a condition may change with growth). At other times, treatment may be for a relatively short time.
Pediatric Plastic Surgery is a subspecialty of Plastic Surgery for which our surgeons have received additional training. At Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, we are able to offer the expertise of a dedicated team trained to recognize and treat the special needs of children. You can take comfort in knowing we are backed by the resources of an academic medical center and a dedicated Children's Hospital, specializing in pediatric anesthesiology services and pediatric specialists skilled in working in these environments. Our pediatric and neonatal intensive care facilities offer world class care to children who may have the misfortune of being born with deformities.
