General information on treatment and options.

Tumors of the Hand and Upper Extremity

Commonly found on the hand and wrist, but very rarely serious conditions.  The vast majority of tumors in the hand are benign and are usually more of a nuisance than anything else.  The most common hand or wrist tumor is a ganglion cyst, a pocket of thick fluid that arises from an underlying joint or tendon sheath.  The most definitive treatment of ganglion cysts with the lowest recurrence rate is surgical excision of the cyst.
