Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute
This is a joint venture between Hershey Medical Center and Pinnacle Health System (a consortium of community hospitals based in Harrisburg.) It is the only university-affiliated inpatient psychiatric facility in central Pennsylvania. The mission of this collaboration is to provide comprehensive psychiatric services to the people of central PA. The facility is a multi-story teaching hospital which includes three units for adult and geriatric inpatient care encompassing 60+ adult beds as well as a16-bed child and adolescent unit. The facility is also equipped with an ECT suite and houses the Triage Evaluation Center (TEC), conference rooms, and outpatient services.
Harrisburg Hospital
The Internal Medicine rotation occurs at Harrisburg Hospital, the largest member of the 600+ bed Pinnacle Health System (a consortium of community hospitals based in Harrisburg.) It has a strong teaching component with its own residency and fellowship programs. Major service lines include Neuroscience (including specialty clinics for Epilepsy, Balance and Vestibular conditions), Heart and Vascular, Transplant, Women and Children Services (including High-risk Maternal Fetal and Advanced NICU), Rehabilitation, Cancer,and Behavioral Health (via PPI.) It is also a Magnet Hospital for Nursing.
Lebanon VA Medical Center
Located in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, about a 30 minute drive from the hospital, the Lebanon VA Medical Center receives very high ratings amongst VA hospitals nationally for customer service. A patient centered approach is stressed. Importance is given to support of the resident staff educationally and administratively. Residents rotate through the Lebanon VA Medical Center for additional outpatient and addiction experience.
Good Samaritan Hospital
The Good Samaritan Hospital is a fully-accredited not-for-profit 172-bed acute care facility that offers complete inpatient and outpatient care, an inpatient rehabilitation program and numerous ancillary services. It has a family practice residency program and host psychiatry residents for rotations in Family and Community Medicine.
