Electives

Below is a list of current electives offered to third and/or fourth year medical students at the University Park Regional Campus. Others are continuously being developed. If you are interested in a specific topic that is not listed here, please contact Denise Rill (crill@hmc.psu.edu).     

Year 3 Electives

  • EMED 756 - Introductions to Emergency Medicine
  • RAD 774A - Radiation Oncology
       - 2 weeks; 2.5 credits; must have completed first two years of medical school
  • SURG 771 - Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery
       - 2 weeks; 2.5 credits; must have completed any 3rd year course which included direct patient care
  • NSURG 750A - Neurosurgery   
       - 2 weeks; 2.5 credits; must have completed any 3rd year course which included direct patient care   

Year 3/4 Electives

  • DERM 732 - Dermatology
       - 4 weeks; 5 credits; must have completed Medicine clerkship                  
  • MED  723 - Clinical Elective in Gastroenterology 
       - 4 weeks; 5 credits; must have completed Medicine clerkship
  • ORTHO 797 - Orthopaedics Special Topics 
       - 4 weeks; 5 credits; must have completed Surgery clerkship         

Year 4 Electives

  • PCMED 748 - Primary Care – Penn State Sports Medicine
       - 4 weeks; 5 credits; must have completed all 3rd year core clerkships
  • PED 755 - Pediatric Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine
  • RAD 771 - General Radiology

  • MED 722 - Acting Internship Internal Medicine
