Simulation Laboratory

The simulation laboratory at Penn State’s School of Nursing at University Park is used by regional campus medical students for collaborative learning. Below you will find information about the features of the training environment.

  • Four POD areas with capabilities to have four separate teaching environments (separate bedded areas with and without manikins)
  • O2 and suctioning at each bedded area
  • State-of-the-art head wall equipment
  • Videotaping streaming for future use and debriefing
  • Counter areas to practice individually or in small groups (ex: IV arm)
  • Ability to telecom/send lab skills demonstrated to another classroom
  • Smart board technology
  • State of the art, high fidelity manikins to assist in demonstrating of assessment skills and to present scenarios for students to practice skills
  • Laptops at the bedsides for documentation
  • Bathroom for practicing transferring of patients
  • Virtual IV simulator/task trainer used for teaching IV insertion and phlebotomy
