Welcome to Penn State Hershey Respiratory Care

Welcome to Penn State Respiratory Care, a department that is an integral part of Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. We specialize in providing all of the ventilatory and hemodynamic care to patients in the Surgical, Medical, Neonatal, and Pediatric ICUs, in addition to performing routine Respiratory Care throughout the hospital.

In addition, the Pulmonary Function Laboratory performs routine spirometry through cardiopulmonary stress exercise testing. The Pulmonary Lab is located in the University Physician's Center, Suite 2018. It has a total of three, "state of the art" spirometers, two of which have body plethysmographs.

Our philosophy is simple…ensure excellent world class care for our patients and a great place to work for our staff. Come in, look around, and get to know us!

"Everyone was terrific.  I never felt I was going through it by myself.  My wife knew all the risks from the beginning.  But she's been right there the whole time.  She has sacrificed so much, so has my family and my wife's family.  My doctors at the Medical Center were absolutely supportive and understanding.  People talk about me having courage, but the real courage comes from the people around me."

Construction began in 2007 on a 175,000 square foot, four-story building to provide a new home for cancer-related clinical and research operations, and creating a new main hospital entrance.

The new facility will bring together leading-edge cancer treatment with ongoing cancer research in one location and help position Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute to earn a National Cancer Institute designation—the hallmark accreditation for academic cancer centers. The cancer center should be operational by early 2009.
