Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesia (MOCA)

An American Society of Anesthesiologists Approved Course

The Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesia (MOCA) cycle was created in 1999 by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) and contains a 10 year time line for a board certified anesthesiologist's educational program. The MOCA requirements include continuing medical education across the 10 years, performance assessments, cognitive tests and other content covering all of the six fundamental competencies in medicine.

The Simulation Center's MOCA course has been approved by the ABA and provides anesthesiologists with an immersive, intense learning experience that fulfills the Case Evaluation or Simulation Education requirement.

Courses are offered several times a year for 6-12 participants. A course syllabus example is provided. Details of the stations and cases are not disclosed to protect the integrity of the educational content.
