IngMar Medical Active Servo Lung 5000

The IngMar Medical ASL 5000 is a lung simulator which demonstrates normal lung function or pathophysiologic conditions. It can also be used for ventilator demonstrations, evaluations, and training for those in Respiratory Therapy, Anesthesiology, Pulmonary Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Prehospital Services, Emergency Medicine and medical / nursing school.

Its computer graphics help the user to visualize patient-ventilator interactions, such as ventilator-assist modes or patients "bucking the vent".

Parameters can be changed by the instructor as the session progresses, or can be preprogrammed. From neonatal to adult, it can demonstrate breathing profiles using a one or two lung model. Parameters can be adjusted within a breath or over a period of time using linear or nonlinear adjustments. Examples of parameters include resistance of lung / trachea / tubing, compliance of the chest wall and each lung, spontaneous breathing vs ventilation, and I:E ratios.
