Newborn Hal Mobile Team Trainer
Newborn Hal is a full term infant-sized wireless manikin for perinatal and infant resuscitation training. It can be used as a stand-alone system for newborn or infant crises. When used in combination with the Noelle system, a full-scale delivery crisis can also be simulated.
The manikin has vital signs on a custom display and real EKG capability. Skin color changes can be controlled by the instructor or allowed to improve or worsen based on ventilation. Pulses are present in the umbilicus, fontanelle, and brachial region bilaterally. Heart and lung sounds are adjustable, as are vocal sounds. Newborn Hal can cry, grunt or be silent as needed. Spontaneous movement is possible, or can be blunted or absent to accurately reflect the condition of the patient.
Real EKGs can be detected and read by standard monitors. Other vital signs, including arterial BP, saturation, and respiratory rate, display on a custom monitor. If the manikin is being used in conjunction with Noelle, the fetal monitoring can be switched for Newborn Hal's vitals at birth.
A wireless laptop controls the monitor and manikin changes. Trends can be preprogrammed, or a prewritten scenario can be used. Any variable can also be changed on the fly.
