The purpose of rehabilitation is to help restore you back to a condition of health or useful and constructive activity. Penn State Hershey Spine Center specialists in rehabilitation medicine, called physiatrists, work closely with the orthopaedic surgeons, neurological surgeons, and pain management specialists to achieve this goal.  Physiatrists use non-surgical means to manage pain, restore function, and to prevent the reoccurrence of neck and back pain.  We recognize that maintaining function in your life is extremely important in the face of chronic neck and back pain. Regular exercise is the most effective way to help prevent episodes of back pain.  Therapeutic exercises combined with medications and other treatment advances may help you keep an active lifestyle.  The Spine Center will craft a treatment plan that helps you stay as active as possible.
