Diagnostic & Therapeutic Procedures
The spine is a very complex anatomical structure consisting of multiple components which might be the source of a patient’s pain. Our highly trained specialists from Penn State Hershey Spine Center offer procedures to identify the cause of spine-related pain and to treat appropriately selected patients.
Depending on the patient’s condition the following procedures are available:
- Diagnostic spinal injections such as facet nerve blocks, selective spinal nerve root blocks, provocative discograms and other procedures aimed at assisting with diagnosis
- Therapeutic injections such as interlaminar and transforaminal epidural steroid injections, facet joint and sacroiliac joint injections
- Radiofrequency ablation of the facet nerves
- Vertebral augmentation of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures with a special cement
- Implantable pain management devices including spinal cord stimulators and drug delivery systems
- Percutaneous intradiscal procedures
