Surgical faculty are involved in medical student education across all four years of med school. In the pre-clinical years, this includes participation in lectures, small group sessions, problem-based learning, etc. Extracurricular exposures to surgical faculty and to careers in surgery are promoted through the Student Surgical Society (SSS). Surgery clerkship rotations, Acting Internship rotations, elective courses and one-on-one preceptorships occur in the clinical years. Faculty members serve as mentors for students wishing to pursue careers in the various surgical disciplines.
Medical Students may also work with faculty members as sponsors of their Medical Student Research Projects (MSR).
