Keith Marmer, D.P.T., M.B.A, Associate Dean for Research Innovation

Dr. Keith Marmer serves as the Associate Dean for Research Innovation and Director of the Office of Technology Development at Penn State College of Medicine. Dr. Marmer leads efforts for the identification and development of innovative technologies at Penn State Hershey and is focused on the commercialization of Penn State Hershey's biomedical research platforms. Dr. Marmer brings both academic and entrepreneurial expertise to this role.

Prior to joining Penn State, Dr. Marmer served as Vice President for Technology Transfer and Business Development at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia where he successfully led a number of entrepreneurial efforts, including the management of the intellectual property portfolio, industry relationship management & sponsored programs and the strategic acquisition of a company. As an entrepreneur, Dr. Marmer was founder and CEO of PhysioMetrics, a national healthcare technology and services firm that performs specialized functional evaluations. Under his leadership, PhysioMetrics successfully raised multiple rounds of investment funding, was awarded People's Choice for Outstanding Company at the New Jersey Technology Council Venture Capital Conference and received three patents. Dr. Marmer has successfully launched a total of four companies. In addition, he has mentored and consulted to a number of other entrepreneurial ventures as well as taught entrepreneurship to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Dr. Marmer received his M.B.A. as well as his Masters and Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of the Sciences.

 

Jill B. Wagner, Grants and Contracts Administrator

Ms. Wagner began her employment with Penn State College of Medicine in 1991 and joined the Office of Technology Development (OTD) in 2000. Ms. Wagner’s responsibilities include conducting the initial review of technology disclosures and working directly with faculty to prepare material transfer agreements, confidentiality agreements and data use agreements upon request. Ms. Wagner is also responsible for the review, negotiation and execution of all material transfer, confidentiality and data use agreements with both industry and academia for Penn State College of Medicine and Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Ms. Wagner works closely with the Office of Research Affairs, Grants Administration and Clinical Contracting to ensure consistency of agreements as they relate to intellectual property. Ms. Wagner serves as a resource for faculty and research staff.

Ms. Wagner participates in educational programs and seminars sponsored by OTD. She presents an OTD overview annually at the Junior Faculty Development Program and Graduation Education Orientation programs and also presents OTD related topics routinely at the Office of Research Affairs monthly ROAR (Research Officer & Administrative Rounds) meetings. Ms. Wagner is a member of the ROAR–Industry Group Planning Committee; ACOR (Penn State - Administrative Committee on Research) and AUTM (Association of University Technology Managers).  

Greg Jackson Ph.D., Associate Director

Dr. Greg Jackson holds the positions of Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Associate Director of the Office of Technology Development at the Penn State College of Medicine. Dr. Jackson assists faculty with evaluating the commercial potential of their intellectual property.

Before joining the faculty at Penn State, Dr. Jackson held the position of Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In this capacity, he conducted clinical research in the areas of aging and aging-related eye diseases. His research on the night vision of patients with age-related macular degeneration led to the discovery of a new diagnostic test for the disease. This technology has been commercialized by MacuLogix (formerly Apeliotus Vision Science), located in Hershey, PA. Based upon his work at UAB, Dr. Jackson was recruited to Penn State to develop new diagnostic tests and clinical trial endpoints for diabetic retinopathy and other common eye diseases.

Dr. Jackson received his Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
 

Viviane Martin Ph.D., Associate Director

Dr. Viviane Martin is an Associate Director of the Office of Technology Development at Penn State College of Medicine.

In the Office of Technology Development, Dr. Martin evaluates discoveries made by Penn State Hershey investigators for patentability and commercial potential. She markets Penn State Hershey intellectual property assets and negotiate the appropriate partnership/license agreements with the companies interested in further developing specific intellectual property assets from Penn State Hershey.  
 
Dr. Martin received her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology in France and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, prior to participating in a one-year business development training program as part of the Life Science Group of the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Technology Transfer.  For the next eleven years, she worked as a technology transfer professional at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, including managing the technology transfer activities for the office for three years. 
 
Dr. Martin chairs the Association of University Technology Managers Eastern Regional Meeting and she is a member of the screening committee of the New York Life Science Angel Network. 

Sara Love M.B.A., Associate Director for Business Development

Ms. Love serves as the Associate Director for Business Development in the Office of Technology Development at Penn State College of Medicine. She manages the marketing and event planning for the office. Ms. Love works with Penn State College Hershey faculty, industry partners and collaborators to promote the mission of the Office of Technology Development.

Prior to joining Penn State College of Medicine, Ms. Love managed the experiential programs at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. In this role, she built industry partnerships with life science and technology companies to provide research and work experiences for graduate and undergraduate students.
 
Ms. Love received her Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate Communications from Susquehanna University and an M.B.A. from Lebanon Valley College.

 

Jennifer Lynch, Administrative Support Assistant

Ms. Lynch provides support for the Office of Technology Development and manages the daily workflow of the office. Prior to joining the Office of Technology Development, Ms. Lynch served as an Administrative Support Assistant for the Office of University Development at Penn State Hershey.   Ms. Lynch has several years experience in higher education administration and office management.

Ms. Lynch received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Penn State University.
