Spina Bifida Program
As designated by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, our Spina Bifida program provides care for patients of all ages. Neurosurgeons, orthopaedists, urologists, family medicine physicians and pediatric specialists work together, as appropriate, to develop a care plan. Allied health professionals provide therapies for strengthening and mobility, training in activities of daily living, management of bladder and bowel function, educational assessment, nutritional counseling, psychological support, and the provision of wheelchairs, adaptive equipment, and orthotics. Services are provided, as appropriate, in both the hospital and clinic settings. The goal is to bring patients to the best possible level of function and independent living.
