University Fitness Center - Specialty Class - Healing Yoga

This is a gentle, healing class for people recovering from cancer*, and those who are supporting a loved-one.  We use the powerful techniques of Kundalini Yoga to increase your vitality and help you deeply relax.  Scientific research suggests that yoga can help reduce the effects of stress, improve sleep, lower blood pressure, assist the immune system, relieve anxiety and depression, and help people find meaning and hope - so important for recovery.

As a compliment to your medical care, this class integrates body, mind, and spirit.  Gentle movements, breathing techniques, and healing meditations will help you feel safe in your body again.  Practicing yoga and meditation in a group develops and supports feelings of connection and emotional well-being.  We encourage interested family members or friends to join you in this class.  No prior yoga experience is needed.

*Patients who recently had surgery or are getting radiation or chemotherapy must receive written clearance from their health care provider.
